Arizona
In Arizona, most postpartum access runs through AHCCCS and the AHCCCS Complete Care health plan you are assigned to. Coverage is decided at the state level, but whether you can actually reach a provider, a ride, an interpreter, a doula, or a home visitor is decided by your plan's network and by what exists where you live.
Start with your question
Health Coverage After Birth
Will I still have health coverage after my baby is born?
If you were on AHCCCS while pregnant under the Pregnant Woman category, coverage can continue for 12 months after the pregnancy ends, with no premium and no copays.
Mental & Emotional Health
Where do I get help if I am struggling after birth?
AHCCCS covers counseling, psychiatry and substance-use treatment through your health plan, and Arizona crisis lines answer regardless of insurance.
Doula Support
Can I have a doula, and will it be paid for?
AHCCCS covers doula services from pregnancy through one year postpartum. You need a provider referral and a doula who is ADHS-certified and AHCCCS-enrolled.
Home & Community Support
Can someone support me at home instead of another clinic trip?
Strong Families AZ connects families to free home-visiting programs, and Health Start community health workers help you navigate care in participating communities.
Work & Leave
Can I take time off, and will I be paid?
Arizona has no universal paid family leave for private workers. Eligible State employees have paid parental leave; FMLA and the PWFA are the federal baseline.
Using Your AHCCCS Benefits
I have coverage — how do I actually get an appointment, a ride, or an interpreter?
Your Complete Care plan is the day-to-day route to in-network providers, rides to covered appointments, free interpreters, and appeals when something is denied.
